Holding a Bachelor of Regional and Urban Planning from the University of Queensland, James gained 4 year’s local government experience working for Maroochy Shire Council as a Town Planner and Senior Town Planner. He then entered the private sector as a Senior Town Planner for Ryter Planning for a period of 4 years before establishing Innovative Planning Solutions in 2007.

James is highly motivated and is dedicated to creative and outcome-focused planning solutions. He has extensive experience providing Australia-wide services in project management for residential communities and commercial developments; provision of advice on high level strategic planning matters; delivery of development projects and expert witness testimony.

He has proven his ability to effectively deliver large projects, including master planned communities. A key example is the Sunshine Cove precinct at Maroochydore.

Experienced in business management and mentoring of staff, James has fostered a culture that provides commitment to quality services. He is known for taking the complexity out of planning issues to streamline the process for clients. He is not a fan of red tape.

James embraces life with many interests – he is a sports fanatic and a golfing tragic – but his passion is town planning and he somehow makes this fun. He believes that a happy workplace is a productive one and this is demonstrated in staff retention at IPS.

James radiates vitality and cheerfulness and is everyone’s favourite lunch companion.
